CYUT bags TCS Awards for sustainability
In the 14th Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) Ceremony,CYUT bagged the University Sustainability Award and Gold Medal of the Corporate Sustainability Reports Award. The awards were given by the Taiwan Academy of Corporate Sustainability (TACS) to praise university efforts in environmental, social, governance, and partnership. Judges are impressed with the university initiatives in integrating academic strengths with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN) in bringing societal impact.
CYUT commits to the SDGs of the UN and sets up the Steering Committee on Sustainable Development. Starting from 2021, CYUT pledges to achieve a yearly 2% reduction in energy consumption and carbon emissions, halve carbon emissions by 2030, and net-zero emissions by 2045. CYUT recognizes its unique responsibility to stakeholders and edits its Corporate Sustainability Report according to the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards in governance, environmental and social aspects. The report provides a clear picture to stakeholders on the rationale, mission, management, achievements, and commitment to academic research, university social responsibility (USR), and environmental sustainability.
